Big Boss, I don't think its ignorance frankly. And I don't think you can say that is how most south asian people act because I for one do not. I am proud not to be like many desis in America who cannot embrace their culture fully, yet I am like many desis in America who can. Thus, don't show your insecurities by getting defensive and don't speak for all south indian people for america. If you believe you are not the depiction of what indian4life is talking about, then don't get so defensive. You are better than that, but by your comment you just proved something else. I don't want you representing us all in that statement because not everyone is like you. Yet, as I see it, there is some truth in Indian4life's statement. We are not fully unified. Why? Because many people can't embrace their culture fully. This site, although very entertaining, is sortof laughing at Indian values from an American Born Desi's point of view, even if it is just for fun. I personally don't like that but Indian4life, don't take it so seriously, ther are many people who are not like that..(and same with you big_boss/imsohood)

Although ABCDs never hang out with non-Indians, they usually abhor their ancestral culture and refuse to watch Indian movies, listen to Indian music, speak in Indian languages, or eat Indian food. ABCD guys are the Indian equivalent of wiggers while the girls are stuck-up spoiled brats who don't know how to drive. Despite usually being cheap, ABCDs are willing to spend lots of money on cover charges and alcohol.

...now you know Dtown, the differences between INdian and American born with INdian background. you call anyone related to their roots a 'fob'. So being Indian means being a fob? And why does being a fob bring negative connotations? what is wrong with such? How easily you call someone a fob by being culturally aware I can call another an American valueless kid who thinks they are better than their INdian background. I am simply pointing out a difference in perceptions. And I don't think Imsohood/big boss had it straight, and indian4life was a little extreme. Your personal attacks of what you think he is do not apply to this kid. I can connect with him- i see the viewpoint he is coming from. ANd label me a fob, but if you saw me walking down the street, even got to know me you wouldn't dare label that to me- but I am. So you can't judge people like that. Show some respect. Personally, I don't believe that being Indian requires you to do all things Indian. I'm British with an indian background but that doesn't require me to listen to Indian music and watch Indian movie only. Calling people ABCDs is one a stupid term and two extremely stereotypical. I'm not saying making fun out of the indian culture is alright but this site is created for entertainment purposes I.e make us laugh!
